Collecting Member Social Security Numbers

We are sending letters to members whose Social Security numbers we don’t have or whose numbers don’t match what the IRS has on file. We’re asking these members to give us the correct names and Social Security numbers for them and any dependents on their plan so we can provide an IRS form to help them file their taxes.

We are required to send letters to everyone who had a Health Alliance plan at some point in 2017 and whose Social Security number we need, even if they are no longer on the plan.

If you have employees ask about this, please reassure them that we understand this information is protected, and we will not use or disclose it in a way that is not permitted by law.
